US dollar down gold up in European morning trading
LONDON — The U.S. dollar was lower against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at US$1.4772, up from US$1.4712 late Wednesday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
Tokyo - 109.11 Japanese yen, down from 109.65
Zurich - 1.0919 Swiss francs, down from 1.0982
London - 1.0456 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0482
In Toronto, the Canadian dollar opened at 95.62 cents US, up 0.09 of a cent from Wednesday. The U.S. dollar stood at 104.58 cents Cdn, down 0.10 of a cent.
The British pound was quoted at US$1.8373, up from $1.8332.
Gold traded in London at US$832 per troy ounce, up from US$827 late Wednesday.
