Ballack likely to miss WCup games with foot injury
FRANKFURT, Germany — Germany captain Michael Ballack is likely to miss the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Liechtenstein and Finland.
The Chelsea midfielder has a left-foot injury and did not practice in the past week, the German football federation said Saturday.
Ballack will join the team on Tuesday but it is almost certain he will not be able to play, the federation said. He will receive treatment from the team doctors.
Germany plays in Liechtenstein on Sept. 6 and against Finland in Helsinki four days later.
